TERRAIN AND RANGE EXPLAINATIONS ARE FOUND HERE
---------------------------------Combat 1--------------------------------------
Ok, guys, how to engage in combat. First, before battle, the combat situation will be explained to you as best as possible from the GM character's(Raven's) position on the battlefield. There are also several kinds of combat, and which type of combat you're engaged in will be explained to you before the actual battle.
Combat Types:
Space Combat- This is a 360* battle, set in the void of space. Enemies can come at you from all sides, and you have to be aware in order to survive. This type of combat does not affect how your MS operates aside from it not being on solid ground.
Lunar Combat- This is a ground-based battle with a twist. The low gravity forces you to fight as if on earth, and doubles the maximum high attainable by your MS's boosting system.
Surface Combat- Combat on terra-firma. This is basic combat under the normal pull of the earth's gravity. This combat type has no negative affects on your MS.
Undersea Combat- This is the hardest type of combat to be engaged in. Pilots that are not acclimated to this type of combat lose 10% of their stats when fighting in this condition. All non-amphibian MS lose 25% of their speed when fighting under this condition, and lose 2 HP every time they make an action.
Range: There are several different combat ranges. These include Proximal, Short, Medium, Long, and Extreme. The effect these ranges have on combat depends on the terrain.
Proximal- A melee attack. This is unaffected by terrain or environment.
Short- Close range, but not close enough for a proximal weapon to cause damage.
Medium- An average combat distance that most weapons function at. This is the same as long range when located in [space] and [lunar] environments.
Long- A range that only certain weapons can function at. This is the same as medium range when located in [space] and [lunar] environments.
Extreme- A range for [space] and [lunar] battles only, that can only be attained by battleship cannons. These weapons can hit anything between Medium and Long range, and then some.

--------------------How to engage in combat-------------------------------
Combat is engaged in by posting the actions your character takes giving the situation of the battle, and the posts will be considered based on a number of factors(incluing order of posts, character positions on the battlefield, your character's reflex time, your MS's speed, etc.). After which the GM(me) will leave a post with both the ations taken by the GM character and the outcome of the actions. This may seem confusing to read but is surprisingly simple in nature, as will be evident after the first battle. The max. number of actions per post and the number of posts in a battle sequence will be determined on a battle-to-battle basis. Possible actions taken cold include firing a weapon, moving your MS to a new position, covering an ally(how this works will be explained later), etc. Now to break some actions down-
Weapon firing- When firing a weapon, always note how much ammo is left in your weapon after firing. Each MS can carry one extra clip(magazine) for it's main weapon. once your first clip runs out, you MUST take up one of your actions to reload your weapon. If you do not do this and try to fire on an enemy, you will be considered to have fired nothing. The same is true if you forget to note your ammo.
Communications- This is when you communicate to an allied party member. This does not take up an action and may be integrated into your action post. This is important. You CANNOT communicate to a party member who has already acted. And once a communication has been sent, the receiving party member must acknoledge in thier post that the message was received. Failure to do so will have consequences for your character. Also, what is actually said in the communications is important, and if the GM Character has to continuously warn a certain party member over what he/she says over the comm link, the GM character WILL kill the problem character and file it as MIA.
Moving your MS- You must indicate where yyour MS is moving to and say which actions were required to reach that position(E.G. using your boosters to get to the top of a low mesa in the desert) This may be used to better align yourself for an attack against the enemy units.
Switching Weapons- This is merely switching to a different equipped weapon in combat.
An action is considered the following: 1. Moving UP TO an enemy and attacking THE SAME enemy 2. Moving(in general) and switching weapons 3. Strafing(this is not the same as moving) and attacking an enemy with a ranged weapon(close range or more) 4. Strafing and switching weapons 5. Finding cover and defending
Any other combinations of the actions illustrated will take up 2 actions.
Combat Damage: It is possible to lose limbs off of your MS. you have been warned. It is repairable after the battle but you will be at an extreme disadvantage during it. Those disadvantages include:
- Limited Actions The unit may only perform 3 actions per pane of battle and may NOT perform the action combos above to save actions. Each action must be its own.
-Loss of Equipped Weapon This usually happens when a Mobile Suit loses it's right arm(where it's weapon is most often held when in use)
-Disabled(leg damage) This happens when a Mobile Suit loses both of it's leg. It may only make up to one action in combat and that action may only be to attack with it's equipped weapon.
-Main Camera Down This happens when a Mobile Suit loses it's head part in battle. Non-Newtype characters have their accuracy reduced by 75%, and Newtype characters have their Accuracy reduced by 75%, but then increased by X*Y, where X= Character's level and Y= Character's Newtype level

WHEN YOUR MOBILE SUIT'S HP REACHES ZERO:
-------------------------------------In Defeat----------------------------------
There are several things that can happen:
1. You die. You may rejoin the RPG with a new character, but ALL that character's information must be different from any characters that have already died under your control since the start of the RPG.
2. You eject. Whether this happens depends on the following factors: 1. What type of weapon destroyed your MS 2. Power of the weapon that destroyed your MS 3. How much HP your MS had left 4. Your pilot's Reflex Speed Ejecting means that your character can no longer act during the current battle, but is not dead, and will return for the next battle.
3. You are saved by an adjacent ally. This is rare but possible. It can only happen if, when your MS expldes, there is an allied unit right next to you. And on top of that your ally must use up their first action during their next turn to save you(assuming there is a next turn, if there is no next turn, I'll toss a dice. (odds = dead and evens = saved).

READ THIS NOW IF YOU ARE MAKING TONS OF ARTARDED MOVES (PEBGU AND HIPPIE, I'M LOOKING AT YOU DAMNIT)
This is a chat I had with Nagatsu, Zero Rock Man, Bonexero, and FMA on MSN. It's a good reference if you don't understand the rules of the game and should giv eyou some good insight on how to operate your MS during land combat. So here it is:
Nagatsu says: have you guys ever played Fire Emblem? you know how you move in that game movement uses a chess like system. okay think about the Go board itself and how it is setup. now let say we drop a Zaku MS on the board
Nagatsu says: now like IRL we can move in any direction. same applies here as well but you can also sidestep in the right and left while still facing in the same direction we call this Strafing. okay now on any basic MS units we have what are called thrusters this is like a powered up movement
Yoh Asakura says: yes i saw
Yoh Asakura says: from youtube demos
Nagatsu says: yup exactly boosting lets you move really fast in one direction ( hinit hint this is really good if you need to move a position really fast )
Nagatsu says: here are some example posted moves:
Runs Forward to bunker
walk to the left towards bunker
W00T says: if its really fast do we have to state walk like that second move or can it be any form of movement.
Nagatsu says: move is another of stating too ( this one isn't used too much since you usually need to hussle in battle )
W00T says: but do they all mean the same thing since i see no where in those examples
Nagatsu says: yup they are the same
Nagatsu says: now onto other movement types
Nagatsu says: strafe to the left of the bunker
W00T said: wait let me ask smarterchild what strafe is
W00T says: Transitive verb Inflected forms: strafed, straf·ing, strafes To attack (ground troops, for example) with a machine gun or cannon from a low-flying aircraft. Noun An attack of machine-gun or cannon Fire from a low-flying aircraft.
Nagatsu says: basically think about running sideways
W00T says: ok
Nagatsu says: you are usually boosters when making this move
Nagatsu says: now onto boost movements ready?
W00T says: ok
Nagatsu says: okay the best way to explain this one is that you are running but added the thruster to move faster than if you were going to sprinting towards something
W00T says: so its as if ur racing but by urself
Nagatsu says: yup XD now we move onto jump moves. now like IRL you can jump in your MS
W00T says: ok
Nagatsu says: usually you use this move to traverse terrian like another MS or say like a Bunker
Raven of Razgriz says: Jumping is done with your boosters
Nagatsu says: this can be done any direction but harder when going backwards due to the thrusters being set up on the back of the MS
Nagatsu says: now lets say I wanna have my MS to jump over the Bunker I woud say something like Booster Jump over the Bunker ( remember to boost or you wil mess up )
W00T says: if u dont boost and u mess up do u lose HP ? Like lets say u hit the bunker
Raven of Razgriz says: Yeah basically that and you are in a bad position for next turn
Nagatsu says: now onto kneeling in your MS. basicall you have you say "Kneel" this movement is usually used to give you MS better aim with your weapons. mainly used with Long Range Weapon like Mazella Top Cannon.
W00T says: What about Shooting and stuff
Raven of Razgriz says: Ok. Obviously firing your weapons is your primary way of killing enemies in the RPG You have to aim at an enemy (declare which enemy on the map you are firing at) And then you just say(for Mgs, missiles, etc.) how many rounds you fired and how much ammo is left in that weapon
W00T says: and can u dodge by moving
Raven of Razgriz says: Yeah
W00T says: does that take up an attack
Raven of Razgriz says: Attacking and moving both take up actions equally unless a certain weapon or MS says otherwise
Raven of Razgriz says: Basically the whole RPG is like a giant real time video game where the outcome of certain actions depeds on what you do
W00T says: ok thnx
Nagatsu says: like the Mazella Top Cannon it basically uses up two actions in order to fire it
W00T says: oh ok how many actions do we get per turn
Raven of Razgriz says: 5 is the base number
Nagatsu says: per shot so post like 1-2 Fire Mazella Top Cannon at Bunker
W00T says: so example that takes up 2 so i can use it once more and use a one action
Raven of Razgriz says: Yeah basically yes FMA
Nagatsu says: so like so " 1-2 Fire Mazella Top Cannon at bunker 3-4 Fire Mazella Top cannon at bunker 5. defend < like that
Raven of Razgriz says: You just have to remember to say how much ammo you have left after every shot.
Raven of Razgriz says: Back on topic.... let's cover defending now. Basically this is the action of getting in a defensive position with yout MS. This can be done in 2 ways. One is by declaring "defend" as a general action and your MS will assume a dfensive stance or you can be more specific about it and declare that you are going to hide behind objects, secure position, etc.
Nagatsu says: this usually applies to terrian objects
Raven of Razgriz says: Anything else Nagatsu? Or is that all the basics
Nagatsu says: what about throwing stuff?
Raven of Razgriz says: Basically you can throw whatever your MS is holding at an enemy unit, this includes empty weapons, stuff you picked up off the battlefield for whatever reason(such as wreckage from an enemy unit), your proximal weapon, should you eveer get the urge to chuck an axe at something, etc.
Raven of Razgriz says: What's left now Naga?
Nagatsu says: sharing ammo
Raven of Razgriz says: Basically if a player runs out of ammo, another player can give away their unused clip(assuming they have one and both players are using the same weapon)
Raven of Razgriz says: Also in certain situations(like an ally is not doing anything productive and is curled in the fetal position while evryone else fights), you can, should you deem it necessary, steal their extra clip for yourself
Raven of Razgriz says: That happened once in our last RPG(don't ask, the dude was an artard)
Raven of Razgriz says: Now what's left naga? Seeing as you have the checklist
Nagatsu says: comm chatter
Nagatsu says: Okay basically this usually appears in bold text ( don't use Bold Text unless talking into comm) you basically talk to other Units in the battlefield
Nagatsu says: Usually this usually involves order given out by GM or Second in Command Character dealing with Strategy for the battle
Raven of Razgriz says: A good thing to note is that this doesn't take up any actions for that turn, so you can do this without worry during combat
Nagatsu says: also it allows players to better work together
Raven of Razgriz says: Also don't talk to a character if they have already posted their turn as that would be kind of pointless
