Return of high-level OP is NOT dependent on the Judge Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't remember if this has been asked or discussed here but I thought it was informative to post this that Julia put up on the Pojo-Site for those that haven't seen it.
Hey everyone,
I've actually been reading this on a couple of boards, so as I sit here at my table surrounded by moving boxes eating cereal, I figured I'd make a quick post to refute it.
Several people have been posting that OP won't happen until the judge program is back in place. This isn't true.
We are not waiting to recertify a bunch of judges before OP resumes. That would be kind of silly...I'm still a judge too, you know, so if there was some kind of Yu-Gi-Oh! judge "mind erase" that was going on, I'd know about it.*
Here it is - there aren't many people in the world who know more Yu-Gi-Oh! judges than I do. I've had the chance to work with a lot of them, and the lack of an official certification doesn't rob them of their ability to judge. Taking away former certifications didn't automatically revoke their knowledge of the game. We can still run tournaments just fine without numbers next to our names.
Getting the certification process up and going is something to which I'm eagerly looking forward. I think the new philosophy behind the Level 1 test will be well received. If I get to do all the things I want to do with this program, it's going to be amazing.
However, OP can't wait for it and isn't going to. It'll be back sooner than most of you think. No, I am not going to tell you when it is starting, so don't ask me and expect an answer - but those of you who are going around saying it'll be late summer at the earliest are quite wrong.

Things will be happening quite soon, but no, you don't "keep" your certifications. Currently there are no certified Yu-Gi-Oh! judges out there. Everyone has to retest and recertify under the new system. I'm just aware that removing a number next to a judge's name doesn't wipe out everything they know about the game.
However, we do need certified and trained judges, so I'm moving the program forward as quickly as I can. The first test is in the translation and approvals process and as soon as all companies are happy with it I can get it online and we'll all go on from there. I'm really pleased with the new approach and I think we'll be on our way to the best-educated judge team we've ever had.
