Don't you guys hate this? I got pretty annoyed by that kid today who was saying crap like "I've seen every episode of the show, read all of the book comics manga episodes, and saw the demo online. I think i know what i'm talking about?" sure his first ruling argument was legit, other card games out there don't let you draw on first turn if you go first, but afterwards a lot of his questions were pretty bad, he complained a lot, and he acted high and mighty because he thought he knew what was happening.
This is why i absolutely hate the show. Not only was the first season extremely retarded to a point where nothing makes sense (even little kuriboh mentioned that in one episode where one of the characters was saying "Doesn't anybody even know the rules of this game?" "Nope." "Nope." "Not a clue.") and the rules become farfetched just to give a reason for winning. Even the manga had a lot of inconsistancies. To be fair to Takahashi-sensei, he was trying to make an entertaining manga based on a card game, and i'm sure the rules were probably vaguely done by him to allow slight consistancy, it wasn't until the card game was officially being done by konami back in what...1998 was the official release to public (96 for pro circuit or something?) in japan. The rules had to be drastically changed to allow the game to make more sense and enjoyable outside of the manga. Though the problem with that is that american children are retarded, most of them don't read rule books therefore you see kids like these who play off the rules in the show.
That's all fine, nothing wrong with it....if you're having fun with friends. That's the thing. They play with their friends, which is fine, I mean there's nothing wrong that, but eventually they go to tournaments, which are a completely different nature, and usually have a terrible time because of it. They misunderstand the rules, usually have a banned card or two (or more, but usually only a couple like dark hole, change of heart, reborn, maybe imperial order or some crap) and all this other stuff, and they try to act like they know what they're talking about which makes them more ignorant than if they just said "Okay, i didn't know that." Not knowing all the rules is fine, some rules are complex in card games, but not even having the basic grasp of rules is a problem, and it only causes more problems when a judge is present and has to explain things, though fortunately with a judge present it's not as bad as stores like JWM where the kid would just have a group of people all saying the same thing and calling him a n00b afterward which for a kid's first tournament is more intimidating and puts them off, which is another thing. Because kids misunderstand the rules / don't bother reading rulebooks when they do decide to play in a tournament all these situations can put them off to tournaments, which could easily be avoidable otherwise and not only will the kid have a more enjoyable time, but possibly want to play in more tournaments.
More tournaments = more experience = learn to play better = more competition = me actually seeing a point in playing.
Thoughts?
