That card really pisses me , Now i really dont understand the timing of it, i only know that i can play it and the it resolves, but the other day, a guy resolved in the battle phase after he had activated it in the mainphase, i know it's legal, but when can i and can i not resolve last will?

Originally it was ruled that for last will's effect to go off you had to resolve the effect prior to a monster being sent to the graveyard that turn, which made the playability in standard cookie decks nearly nonexistant. Once this ruling was enforced last will ended up on the restricted list because of it.
Basically last will can be activated during either main phase like all spells, its effect can resolve during any phase of gameplay with the exception of damage step (which the only effects to resolve are graveyard effects, ATK/DEF boosting effects, and counter traps anyway). There really isn't any timing missed with last will. You can activate it after a monster is destroyed or tributed, so say you summon exiled force, call priority to activate the effect, effect resolves both monsters are tributed, if exiled force is sent to the graveyard (so say macro cosmos wasn't on the field, because it has to be graveyard) then you can now activate last will and search your deck, or you can activate it, then go into battle phase, that way if sakuretsu armor, mirror force, etc are activated you can now activate last wills effect for say injection fairy lily to pull through some sick damage (hint, hint).
People are still confused about this card though, the way the card's worded makes it more than legal, but because of the previous ruling people are stuck on that and sometimes you'll hear people argue that you can't use the effect during battle phase or you can't activate the card after a monster is destroyed and get the effect. Personally I feel too much a pain in the ass to bother with the card because of that. =|
